Socio-economic consequences

Overall objective: To determine the impact of the landslides on household welfare

Approach: This part of the Afreslide research will follow an approach which is completely bottom-up, in the sense that the primary focus are the households that are affected by the landslides.

Methodology: Structured household surveys will be implemented in the Rwenzori study areas  in Uganda and in the Bamboutos in Cameroon, after which an econometric analysis of the data will be performed.

Planning:

• Summer 2014: Preparatory field work in the Rwenzori area
• Winter 2015: Primary field survey in the Rwenzori region
• Winter 2016: Primary field survey in th Bamboutos
• Summer 2016: Secondary field survey in the Rwenzori area
